That’s a lyric from “See You Again,” the first single from Miley Cyrus’ 2007 debut album, “Meet Miley Cyrus.” Could it also be the inspiration behind her next album?
The Grammy-winning singer recently made a slight name change, which could be a hint that a new music era is on the way. She dropped her last name from her social media pages and her official website. Now, her Instagram bio and X name just say “Miley” and the url for her website has been changed to mileyofficial.com.
Plus, if you Google “Miley Cyrus,” the search engine’s results show, “Did you mean…just: miley.”
It seems the switch happened recently, as the 33-year-old posted a close-up snap with a red-and-black aesthetic on her Instagram Aug. 30 that sparked fan theories.
The next day, she shared another photo of herself with the same color theme. The caption simply read, “MILEY.”
Fans in the comments speculated that Cyrus is signaling her 10th studio album is on the way.
Another said that the colors mirrored her 2020 rock album, perhaps teasing the sound of her next record. “Giving plastic hearts era,” the Instagram user commented.
Even the official Apple Music account replied, “NEW ERA INCOMING.”
Her 10th album would follow the release of her 2025 record “Something Beautiful,” which also included a musical film. She worked on her ninth album with fiancé and music producer Maxx Morando.
The possible reference to her debut song also fits with the current nostalgic period in Cyrus’ life. Earlier this year, she celebrated the 20th anniversary of “Hannah Montana” with a television special in March. She reflected on how much the role meant to her and released a special track titled “Younger You.”
The next chapter in Cyrus’ career will come after the death of her godmother, inspiration and music icon Dolly Parton, who died on Aug. 25 at the age of 80.
Cyrus paid tribute to her “Aunt Dolly” in a moving Instagram post.
“The feeling of losing my Aunt Dolly is beyond what feels right to share. Our most sacred moments were private and they’ll stay there behind the stage, beneath the glamour & between our hearts,” she wrote Aug. 26.
Cyrus continued, “What I KNOW is Dolly would want me to feel it, write a song about it, and then continue on and be strong. I have an angel by my side. I always have. One of our last conversations was about music and metamorphosis.”
