Cesc Fabregas is interested in signing a second Chelsea star after Como’s £30m deal for Trevor Chalobah.

England defender Chalobah, who made 151 appearances for boyhood club Chelsea, completed a move to Serie A side Como last month.

Chalobah was a mainstay in the Chelsea team last season but Stamford Bridge bosses nevertheless put him up for sale after the £52m arrival of Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace.

Fabregas briefly played alongside Chalobah during his time at Chelsea and welcomed the 27-year-old to Como on a five-year contract.

The Spanish football icon understandably has a positive relationship with Chelsea and hopes to use his connections to strike another deal, this time for goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

Chelsea have told Sanchez to find a new club after signing World Cup winner Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa.

Sanchez came into the season as Xabi Alonso’s No. 1 but another shaky performance in their Premier League opener against Fulham convinced Chelsea to enter the market for a new shot-stopper.

Chelsea have warned Sanchez that he will be frozen out unless he leaves before the transfer deadline amid interest from clubs in England, Europe and Saudi Arabia.

One possible destination for the Spaniard is Como, with Fabregas weighing up a late move for the former Brighton goalkeeper, according to Fabrizio Romano.

It is claimed Como’s priority before the end of the summer transfer windowis to sign a new striker but that Fabregas is also keen to bring in a new keeper.

Martinez made his Chelsea debut in Sunday’s thrilling 4-3 win over Brighton and says he wants to help the Blues win the Premier League.

‘I spoke with [Chelsea legends] John Terry and Petr Cech,’ said Martinez. ‘I know how big this club is and what we want to achieve this season.

‘I came here to help. I had an amazing seven years at Aston Villa. I have come here to challenge and to try and win the Premier League.
