In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index fell 0.23% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index dropped 0.74%.
The market breadth was negative. On the BSE, 1,855 shares rose and 2,571 shares fell. A total of 265 shares were unchanged.
In the commodities market, Brent crude for the November 2026 settlement jumped $3.18 or 3.61% to $91.28 a barrel.
The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of the market's expectation of volatility over the near term, added 3.37% to 11.04.
