The 2026 Florida State Seminoles are in an intriguing position. After a pair of seasons missing the College Football Playoff, they are looking to get back to the success they had a few years ago. With a Week 0 win already in their pocket as they attempt to get back into a bowl game, there are some people who are not believing in them this season. Let's take a closer look at one college football analyst who isn't buying the Seminoles this season.

While on Josh Pate's College Football Show, Pate made it known that he did not like what he saw from the Florida State Seminoles in their 34-17 Week 0 victory over New Mexico State.
"If you watched the game like I did, what was most alarming is just how evenly matched the teams looked for a lot of the night. The better team won here. Florida State is a superior team. I thought it would be end first quarter, 21-0. Go to half, 42-3. I expected that because there won't be a lot of those opportunities this year for Florida State. So I expected it, and it didn't happen, and I don't think because somebody was overlooking someone. I just don't think Florida State's team is that good."
The schedule will get tougher than playing New Mexico State. Pate explained how the schedule is not favorable for Florida State this year.
"Playing SMU and then in Tuscaloosa and then home for Virginia and then at Louisville, at Miami, and Clemson by Halloween is a recipe for disaster."
After a pair of bad seasons with a combined record of 7-17, Seminoles coach Mike Norvell cannot afford to be out of the College Football Playoff picture that early into the season. Even with a tough schedule, the Seminoles are hoping to make some noise in the ACC and get into the 12-team playoff. It will be intriguing to see how this program looks, as they were able to get some rust off against an inferior opponent.
