Jamie Foxx shared his daughter Corinne helped save his life after his deadly stroke in 2023, recalling a conversation with his doctor where he was told, "She’s the reason that you’re here.”

Jamie Foxx is giving his daughter Corinne her flowers.

Three years after the Ray star suffered a brain bleed that led to a near-fatal stroke, he shared how a conversation with his doctor opened his eyes to the 32-year-old’s critical role in his recovery.

“I wanted to know his version,” Foxx told Keke Palmer during a recent episode of her Baby, This Is Keke Palmer podcast. “He says, ‘Hey man, without her you wouldn’t be here.’”

“He says, ‘Man, your daughter saved your life,’” Foxx added. “He said, ‘She’s the reason that you’re here.’”

Jamie (real name Eric Marlon Bishop) compared Corinne’s swift response in his time of need to Michael Corleone when he stepped in to protect his father in The Godfather after learning he had been shot, noting, “That’s who she was.”

Indeed, she stepped up and “handled it” when media outlets began reaching out for further comment on the Dreamgirls actor’s health.

Jamie—dad to Corinne with ex Connie Kline as well as Anelise, 17, with ex Kristin Grannis—was hospitalized in April 2023, revealing later he had experienced a deadly stroke.

Looking back, the 58-year-old admits he “couldn’t make sense of” the near-tragedy, noting that the experience was frustrating because he didn’t understand why he needed a “second chance.”

“What was wrong with my first chance?” he said. “This doesn’t happen to anybody. How does it happen to me?”

But “joking all the time” eventually allowed him to ease his mind because he “only had comedy to lean on.”

And today, Jamie—who is expecting a baby with girlfriend Alyce Huckstepp—can look ahead at his new chapter with gratitude.

“A few years back, I went through something horrible,” he told E! News in an interview published Aug. 20. “My daughter made sure I got back. Now, seeing that I have a new life and to have my daughters embrace it, that’s all that matters, you know.”

As he put it, “This is part of living—having a new life to live and share with is amazing.”
