Anne Hathaway has become the queen of the summer blockbuster, and now she’s becoming the queen of the racetrack. She’ll be starring alongside Tom Cruise in the upcoming Days of Thunder sequel, trading in a Trojan horse for a race car. But she’ll be keeping her IMAX acting warm; the movie will be shot in IMAX and even get the Dolby and 4DX treatment — passenger princess time! According to Variety, Hathaway will play a race car team owner and engineer, and Cruise will reprise his role as Cole Trickle. Jerry Bruckheimer, Tommy Harper, and Cruise are all producing. Hathaway and Cruise shared the news by posing alongside a race car, confirming that Cole’s racing days will return in summer 2028.
Directed by Jonathan Levine, the sequel to Days of Thunder is set for release on June 2, 2028. Plenty of time to get some practice laps around the track.
