Apple TV has been on a bit of a roll lately, with a string of hit shows including Widow’s Bay, Severance, Pluribus, and the return of Ted Lasso. Unfortunately, all that premium programming doesn’t come cheaply, because Apple is raising prices on its streaming service once again, from $12.99 to $14.99 a month.
The last Apple TV price increase was a year ago when it raised prices from $9.99 to $12.99, a 30 percent price hike. This latest bump is about half that, but it’s still another financial pain point for Apple customers that already had to endure raising prices on most things Apple sells. Just this week, Apple introduced the M6 Mac mini starting at $899, 50 percent higher than a comparable model would have cost just a couple of months ago, and analysts are predicting higher prices on next month’s iPhones as well.
Apple also raised prices on its Music streaming service in July by as much as $3 a month, depending on the tier.
When Apple TV launched in 2019 it cost just $4.99 a month with a one year free trial for anyone who purchased an eligible Apple product. Apple has since raised prices four times.
