A man who was seriously injured after falling from a roof and was told he would never walk again is taking part in a challenge to raise money for Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance.
Andy Constable, from Birchington, was doing maintenance work at a football club five years ago when he fell about 5m (16ft).
The 58-year-old said he suffered a broken hip, pelvis, femur, ribs and back, a punctured lung and the loss of a finger.
He managed to learn how to walk again and is now walking from King's College Hospital in London to Minnis Bay in Kent in a 24-hour fundraising challenge.
Constable said he was "shocked" when he was told he would have "life-changing injuries".
With the support of family and friends, he was able to return to work as well as learning how to walk again.
"Recovery took a long time, but this also motivated me to raise money to support the air ambulance," he said.
Constable has taken part in charity fundraising events, including a walk along the Kent coast in 2024.
"If it wasn't for the air ambulance I wouldn't be alive," he said.
"I wouldn't have been able to see my grandson, who was born two years ago and I wouldn't have been able to see my daughter who got married this year."
Constable and nine friends will be walking from King's College Hospital to Minnis Bay in Kent.
They are due to start on Friday and aim to complete the 67km (41 miles) walk in 24 hours.
"I am excited about it, especially when I was previously told I wouldn't be able to walk again," he said.
Constable said so far he had raised more than £13,000.
"The money would make such a huge difference to the air ambulance," he said. "They fight hard to save lives every day."
