From September 19–27, 120 films will screen at SilverCity Sudbury
If you too are a thinker and a feeler, this may be of interest: taking place September 19–27 at SilverCity Sudbury, the Cinefest Sudbury International Film Festival returns for its 38th edition in 2026. Organizers have now revealed the full 120-title programming lineup for this year's event.
The Gala Film Presentations — which pair standout cinema with après-film receptions — will screen Sean Menard's Run Terry Run, Michael Dowse's The Stunt Driver, Lukas Dhont's Coward, Cristian Mungiu's Fjord, Jordan Firstman's Club Kid, Brandon D. Cox's Last Moon, Peter Farrelly's I Play Rocky and Jesse Eisenberg's The Debut ahead of food, drinks and conversations amongst movie enthusiasts.
Meanwhile, Special Presentations will spotlight exceptional films and unforgettable stories, including Jean-Paul Salomé's L'affaire Bojarski, Lauriane Escaffre and Yvo Muller's Au revoir Pluton, Ron Murphy's Back in Black, Barry Avrich's Darlene Love: I Know Where I've Been, Boris Mojsovski's Foreign Tongue, Vinnie Karetak and Jaap van Heusden's In Alaska, Nyla Innuksuk's In the Heart of the South, Casey Walker's Ithaqua, Olivier Nakache and Éric Toledano's Juste une illusion, Andrew Haigh's A Long Winter, Hirokazu Kore-eda's Look Back, Rachel Morrison's Love of Your Life, Andrey Zvyagintsev's Minotaur, Anthony Marciano's Le Rêve américain, Mike Leigh's Tender Loving Care and Bassam Tariq's Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother.
Cinefest will also spotlight the emerging voices shaping Canada's film landscape through its robust selection of Features Canada and Cana-Doc titles — as well as Cinema Indigenized, which brings Indigenous perspectives from Adam Khalil and Zack Khalil, Joséphine Bacon and Kim O'Bomsawin, Alexandra Lezarowich and more to the screen at this year's fest.
The Desjardins After Dark programming marks the debut of a brand-new film program that will explore shadowy, provocative storytelling like David Wain's Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass, while the In Full View: Crisis. Conflict. Conscience. selections confront complex, challenging subjects. Finally, Cinefest's World Cinema and World Docs brings the world to Sudbury, showcasing international points of view from global filmmakers.
