Ange Postecoglou’s Al-Nassr came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 with only ten men after the Australian manager subbed off Cristiano Ronaldo at half time of a Saudi Pro League clash on Wednesday morning.
Postecoglou’s side completed the heist away to fellow Australian Arthur Papas’ Al-Ettifaq with three goals in the space of 17 minutes, including a 91st minute from former Liverpool star Sadio Mane – who scored a brace.

The victory means the defending champions boast a perfect three wins from three games and are sitting at the top of the table as the only team yet to drop points this season.
Al-Nassr’s leading man Ronaldo started for the first time this season after being eased back following the World Cup and his wedding.
But Postecoglou whisked him off at the break and replaced the Portuguese icon with midfielder Abdullah Al-Khaibari.
The former Tottenham, Nottingham Forest and Celtic boss had already been forced to make a substitution early in the game with goalkeeper Bento sent off in the 12th minute.
Ronaldo clearly displayed his frustration as he headed down the tunnel, and was not part of the post-game celebrations with teammates in front of the travelling Al-Nassr fans.

“When I made the substitutions, including taking Ronaldo off, I believed the players coming on could make an impact,” Postecoglou told reporters when asked about his decision to substitute the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
“I came here to help the players, so as I said, I’m proud of them because every substitute made a positive contribution.
“I’m here to help the team with what I see, and everyone knows that Ronaldo hasn’t played in a long time. He performed exceptionally well in the first half, and we opted for a different approach.”
Postecoglou offered some insight into that approach and also praised the rest of his players.
“I’m proud of the players despite the high humidity, difficult conditions, the team being a man down, and being behind in the score,” Postecoglou said.
