Hundreds of thousands of dollars will be used to help kids and teens who have been charged with misdemeanor crimes.
Charlotte City Council unanimously voted on Monday to accept $238,000 from Mecklenburg County's Juvenile Crime Prevention Council.
Officials said 5,300 kids have participated in the program.
The city said 90% of them did not commit another crime for at least a year.
