Ziggurat Interactive have announced the 1998 cult horror adventure game from DreamForge Intertainment will be getting a modernized and improved version called Sanitarium Enhanced. It will launch for the the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG in 2026.

Sanitarium Enhanced is an updated edition of the renowned psychological horror adventure Sanitarium, originally developed by DreamForge Intertainment. First released in 1998 on PC and named Adventure Game of the Year, the timeless point-and-click horror now has full controller support for the first time, quality of life improvements, and never-before-seen bonus materials.

You awaken disfigured and amnesiac in a decaying asylum, with no memory of who you are or how you got there. Escaping your cell is only the beginning: each chapter pulls you deeper through a chain of nightmare worlds—a village of deformed children, a town of insectoid mutations, a circus of the grotesque—as you piece together the fractured truth of your own identity.

Unexpected, and most welcome. I'd happily buy it just to support more games of this type receiving modern support, but I'm also looking forward to replaying it for the first time in a while.
