A small car can make daily driving much easier when roads are crowded and parking space is hard to find. Suzuki has now shown its answer to this need with the new e Sky electric car in Japan. The production ready model follows the Vision e Sky concept and brings a compact body with a claimed range of 310 km.
The e Sky is designed around Japan’s kei car rules. It is short and narrow, yet Suzuki has used its tall roof and long wheelbase to create more room inside.
The car gets a boxy design with a tall roof and large glass area. C shaped LED lighting sits at the front, with rectangular headlamps and a slim black panel. A black roof, squared wheel arches and vertical rear lamps add to its look.
Suzuki is also offering an Immersion Blue colour along with a matching interior theme.
The e Sky uses a two wheel drive setup. Suzuki has not yet shared the battery capacity or motor output.
The company says its 310 km range comes from keeping the car light and improving energy efficiency. A direct heat pump and an electric heater are also fitted to help reduce energy use during cabin heating.
An Easy Drive Pedal function is available too.
The e Sky also gets Vehicle to Load technology. This allows the battery to run external electrical equipment. That can be useful for:
Inside, the car gets a 10.1 inch touchscreen and a digital instrument display. Connected navigation can check traffic and remaining range before suggesting a route and charging stop.
Suzuki is developing the e Sky on its K EV platform. Its compact footprint and low weight suit crowded urban areas, where a large SUV can feel unnecessary.
The Japanese market already has several small electric cars, with BYD also entering this space through the Racco. Suzuki has not announced pricing for the e Sky yet. It is expected to go on sale in Japan during the financial year ending March 2027.
The e Sky has not been confirmed for an India launch yet. However, if Suzuki eventually brings it here, the Tata Tiago EV and MG Comet EV would be among its closest rivals in the affordable electric car space. The Tiago EV offers a claimed range of up to 285 km, while the MG Comet EV has a claimed range of 230 km. With its 310 km claimed range, the e Sky could have an interesting advantage on paper.
