Brydon Carse has been dropped from England's squad for Thursday's second Test against Pakistan after police said he was briefly arrested on a night out in Derby at the weekend.
Carse was filmed in handcuffs by a member of the public after playing for Durham in their win over Derbyshire on Saturday. It emerged on Monday, via a statement from Derbyshire Police, that he was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly, then "de-arrested shortly after".
Derbyshire constabulary said: "A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly in Derby city centre on Saturday night (22 August). However the man was de-arrested shortly afterwards having agreed to leave the area."
The 31-year-old was an unused member of the squad for last week's Test win at Headingley and had travelled to London to join up with his team-mates in London on Monday before the Lord's Test.

But he has been stood down pending an investigation by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and the Cricket Regulator. Carse is free to play for Durham against Gloucestershire from Thursday, but Hampshire's Sonny Baker has replaced him in the Test squad.
Stuart Broad, the former England quick, described Carse as "pretty daft" for finding himself in such a situation.
A statement from the ECB read: "Following a referral from the ECB, the Cricket Regulator have confirmed that they will investigate events on Saturday night in Derby. Brydon Carse will no longer be available for selection for the second men's Rothesay Test match while this investigation is ongoing and the full facts are obtained. Brydon will be replaced in the squad for this match by Sonny Baker."

Given England won the first Test by an innings, Carse was only likely to come into the side if one of the four-pronged seam attack was injured. Baker comes in, having made his Test debut earlier in the summer.
The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday morning, around 4am, when the venue, Molly Malone's Irish Tavern, was due to close, and started over a drink spilt on Carse. The police, with closing time approaching, were already present, rather than being called. Carse was taken away from the venue by police and briefly detained and arrested, but then de-arrested soon after, and released without charge. The police, however, are thought to still be looking into the matter.
Ben Stokes, the former England captain, and Matthew Potts, another centrally-contracted player, were also present.
This is the latest in a string of late-night incidents involving England cricketers over the last year. Harry Brook was punched by a bouncer hours before leading the one-day international (ODI) side in Wellington in November, on the eve of an Ashes tour that included a boozy mid-series break in Noosa, where Ben Duckett was filmed by a member of the public drunk. Then, after England's first Test of the summer, Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson breached the newly-introduced curfew.

Stokes and Atkinson missed a Test as part of a disciplinary process which threw into question whether the curfew was actually in place. Since then, Stokes has retired from internationals, partly because of that incident. His replacement, Joe Root, instantly ditched the curfew, calling on players to "be adults".
