WARRINGTON Athletics Club members ran well on home soil during Sunday's Birchwood 10km road race.
Three members took part in the event organised by Spectrum Striders, with Jack Pilkington leading them home as he placed sixth in 33mins 8secs.
Louise Blizzard was next to finish in 41mins 28secs, which was the fastest women's over 50s time and good enough for 62nd overall, while Ellen Turnbull clocked 46mins 42secs to finish 140th overall and 19th in the women's rankings.
Former Warrington AC runner Danny Cliffe finished second in the race in a time of 30mins 52secs.
Sunday also saw two of the club's younger members – Alfie Blizzard and Thomas Darbyshire – compete on a stage that some of the world's best athletes have just been on.
The pair were in action for second claim club Wigan and District Harriers at the National Relay Championships held at Birmingham's Alexander Stadium, which hosted the European Athletics Championships earlier this month.
They were part of the under 18s 4x400m team, with Alfie running the second leg and Thomas the final leg to bring the team home in fifth place in a time of 3mins 33.00secs.

Earlier in the week, under 10s athlete Alice Astbury made her debut in the Young Athletes Quadrathlon – made up of 50m sprint, long jump Howler javelin and 400m events – hosted by Lancashire Athletics in Blackburn.
She placed fourth in her 50m race (8.9sec) and fifth in her long jump pool (2.76m) before throwing 9.34m in the Howler javelin to finish ninth in her pool.
However, she finished with a win in her 400m race in 1min 21.6secs to score 225 points overall, placing her 16th in the competition.
Last Tuesday, five Warrington AC members competed in Trafford Athletics Club's latest Grand Prix event.
Euan Lawton and Harry Millar competed over 800m for the under 16s boys – Euan clocked a personal best of 2mins 10.80secs to place eighth in Race One while Harry was fifth in Race Two, clocking 2mins 12.13secs.
Elizabeth Lees also set a new best 3,000m time in the under 18s – she finished seventh in her race but her time of 10mins 35.42secs took a huge 16 seconds off her previous best time.
Dan Fox was just 11 hundredths of a second away from his 1,500m personal best as he placed eighth in 4mins 0.72secs while masters athlete Chris Standford was fourth over the same distance in 4mins 11.06secs.
