Recently, Renault India launched the updated Kwid in the Indian market. Now, the company is preparing another update for the small hatchback in international markets. The new Renault Kwid has been spotted without camouflage in Brazil and the car gets a number of visual and cabin changes.
The updated model is expected to make its global debut soon. Most of the changes are easy to spot inside the cabin and around the front of the car.
Renault has given the Kwid a revised front section. The grille now has a rectangular enclosed design. The bumper has also been redesigned and gets a black section below the grille.
Silver accents are placed on the lower part of the bumper. The headlamp layout continues with the main lamps positioned lower down. The turn indicators and position lamps sit on either side of the grille.
At the rear, the biggest change is the use of clear lens tail lamps. The side profile gets new wheel designs, but the familiar door handles and body cladding are still part of the package.
The dashboard gets more noticeable changes. The old LED instrument display has been replaced by a new TFT style screen. It sits inside the instrument binnacle and is joined by LED readouts for information such as fuel and temperature.
A larger touchscreen sits on the centre dashboard. The air conditioning vents also get a new Y shaped design.
The cabin takes some inspiration from the Kwid E Tech electric model sold in Brazil. However, there are differences between the two versions. The petrol version has a lower centre dashboard section and keeps the rotary air conditioning controls.
Physical buttons are also present on the centre console, including the power window switches.
Renault is not expected to make major mechanical changes. The Kwid is likely to continue with its 1.0 litre three cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine.
In international markets, this engine produces around 70bhp. The existing gearbox choices are also expected to continue.
The new Kwid gets enough changes to give the hatchback a fresher look without changing its basic character. More details about the model, including its final specifications and launch plans, should be revealed at the global debut.
