While the American has a losing record against Fils, he will have the home crowd behind him. The 17th seed has looked hugely impressive in Cincinnati, particularly in his comprehensive straight-set win over the in-form Felix Auger-Aliassime in the last 16.
Having secured a comfortable 7-5, 6-3 win over fellow American Brandon Nakashima in the semi-finals, he’ll now play in the Cincinnati Open final for the second time in three years. However, he’ll hope for a more positive result after losing to Jannik Sinner in the 2024 showpiece.
