Teyana Taylor has recalled how Nicole Kidman helped calm her down before the 2026 Academy Awards.

The actresses became fast friends during last year's awards circuit as they kept attending the same industry events while campaigning for their films One Battle After Another and Babygirl, respectively.

Taylor was "a bundle of nerves" attending the Oscars as a first-time nominee on 15 March, and Kidman gave her sage advice to calm her down when they bumped into each other in their hotel beforehand.

"Nobody really knows this, but on Oscar Sunday I was a bundle of nerves," she told British Vogue. "I was running late, emotions were everywhere. Nicole and I were both getting ready at the same hotel because we were both wearing Chanel, and somehow our paths crossed right before we left. It felt like perfect timing. She calmed me down, reminded me to breathe, to enjoy the moment, to really savour it because I had earned it."

She continued, "Before I stepped into one of the biggest moments of my career, I got to stand beside someone who had walked that road so many times before – and instead of making it about herself, she made sure I felt steady."

Taylor was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for One Battle After Another while Kidman presented the award for Best Picture with her Moulin Rouge! co-star Ewan McGregor.

While she was not nominated for Babygirl, the Australian actress has been Oscar-nominated five times, and she won in 2003 for The Hours.

Heaping praise on her new friend, Taylor gushed, "She's one of those women who doesn't just make movies – she is the movies."

Meanwhile, Kidman told the publication that The Rip star has the fundamentals of movie stardom – understanding your talent and being hungry for it.
