To become a powerhouse in a new sport takes good coaching and good players. JSerra has pulled it off in girls’ flag football.
The Lions have won 36 consecutive games dating to last season, when they went 28-0 and won the Southern Section Division 1 championship.
Lots of credit goes to coach Brian Ong, who started the program in 2023.

Despite losing the Division 1 player of the year, Ava Irwin, to Sierra Canyon, the Lions keep rolling with an 8-0 record this season. Quarterback Kate Meier, who was pretty good last season, is even better this season, and so are her receivers.

But the defense has been particularly impressive.
There’s plenty of challenges ahead, but for now, JSerra has something good going in a sport that keeps attracting more and more fans.
