Tim Stutzle says the Ottawa Senators have to turn the page and move on after captain Brady Tkachuk was traded to the Florida Panthers.
Stutzle, speaking for the first time publicly since Tkachuk demanded a trade and was dealt to the Panthers in June, told NHL.com’s Tom Gilitti at the National Hockey League‘s European media tour in Munich that he was confident the Senators would push for a playoff spot this coming season.
Much has been made of Tkachuk’s departure, but Stutzle said he wouldn’t let it be a distraction.

“It’s his decision,” Stutzle said Friday. “There’s nothing we can do about it. For me, he was always a great teammate and, obviously, a great hockey player, and we’re going to miss him. He was always there for me. But, at the end of the day, we’ve got to move on. We’re going to miss him as a hockey player, as a person and as a leader, but it is what it is.
“We’re focused on what we have ahead of us and the team we have right now. So wish him all the best.”
