Anna Faris shared the types of conversations she has with her and ex-husband Chris Pratt's son Jack, 14, especially when it comes to the topic of religion.
Anna Faris isn’t afraid to have deep conversations with her son.
The Scary Movie actress got candid about how she approaches the topic of religion with her and ex-husband Chris Pratt’s son Jack, especially because the 14-year-old is more devout than she is.
“I didn’t grow up with religion,” Faris explained to host Chelsea Handler on the Dear Chelsea podcast Aug. 20. “He’s asked me to accept Jesus Christ, and I told him I would do anything for him, including this, but it’s gonna take a whole lot of long conversations.”
And the 49-year-old knew she’d be able to have those conversations with the teen because he’s “as solid as a tugboat, emotionally.”
“He just doesn’t get easily jarred,” she said, “he handles situations really well.”
Those situations include the talks he has with Faris, during which she often questions his views on life.
“He’s impressive, actually. He’s impressive ‘cause I try to challenge him,” Faris explained. “I’m like, ‘Do you think it’s a luxury that you get to be pro-life? Do you think that’s kind of a luxury?’ And he’s like, ‘Maybe.’ Or I’ll say, ‘So what do you think of this mega pastor that’s kind of a grifter? What do you think?’ And he’s like, ‘Oh, mega pastors are the worst.’ So it’s like, ‘OK, he’s getting there.’”
“I’m appreciative that he’s examining religion the way he is in terms of recognizing hypocrisy, starting to recognize hypocrisy,” she added, “and I’m appreciative that we can have these long conversations.”
Faris—who married cinematographer Michael Barrett in 2021—has done her best to keep Jack out of the public eye, although she’s never shied away from raving about how impressed she is by him.
"He's always had such a solid anchor," she told People in March 2025. "I don't know where, being a kid in Hollywood, he got that. I don't know how he got so down-to-earth, but I'm really grateful."
Plus, the teen certainly seems wise beyond his years.
"It turns out, he knows everything," Faris marveled to Entertainment Tonight at the Scary Movie premiere in June. "He knows way more than I thought he did, so I actually feel comfortable bringing him here."
