Originally from Sorocaba, a city in the state of São Paulo, Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa had been living in Limerick for a number of years.

A woman whose body was found in an apartment complex in Limerick on Friday morning has been named locally, with an autopsy due to determine the course of a garda investigation into her death.

Brazilian native, Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa, aged in her 30s and married, was heavily involved in community events in the city. It is understood she worked for a cleaning company based in Co Limerick.

Originally from Sorocaba, a city in the state of São Paulo, she had been living in Limerick for a number of years.

Friends of Ms Pereira Rosa raised the alarm on Friday morning, as they were due to meet her for work early. The friends met to go to work together in the mornings, and concern was raised when she did not appear as usual at the apartment complex on Cecil Street.

Her friends alerted gardaí at Henry St Garda station.

A section of the third floor where Ms Pereira Rosa lived was sealed off, and a large garda presence, including several detectives, was at the scene on Friday morning.

As her body was removed from the scene to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick, gardaí emphasised that autopsy results “will determine the nature of the investigation”.

Sources told the Irish Examiner she was found injured and unresponsive, and died at the scene.

A garda spokesperson said the State pathologist has been notified, and that examination of the scene is ongoing by members of the Garda Technical Bureau.

As of late on Friday evening, a Garda technical bureau van was still parked in front of the building.

It is understood gardaí are harvesting CCTV coverage in the apartment block and in the surrounding area, as well as talking to residents of the complex.

Several friends of the young woman have been paying tributes to her on social media, with notes, pictures and videos.

“I will love you for eternity,” several of her friends posted in tribute alongside a picture of Ms Pereira Rosa.
