BUENOS AIRES, Aug 20 (Reuters) – Argentina's economic activity climbed 2.7% in June compared with the same month a year earlier, data from Argentina's national statistics agency showed on Thursday.
The increase for Latin America's third-largest economy was above the 1.9% growth projected by analysts polled by Reuters and jumped from the 0.4% rise recorded in May.
June's growth was driven primarily by fishing, as well as mining and quarrying, according to the government statistics agency INDEC.
Of the 15 sectors tracked by the EMAE, 12 posted year-on-year gains in June. The only declines were in public administration, defense and compulsory social security; electricity, gas and water; and education.
President Javier Milei's government has sharply cut public spending to curb inflation, while seeking to revive growth in the industrial, consumer and construction sectors.
