When most fans think of FX’s beloved biker-gang drama Sons of Anarchy, they think high intensity, toxic masculinity, guns, and even more bikes. But now they’ll have something new to add to the mix: meta-commentary? Yes, the FX has ordered a Sons of Anarchy reunion, titled Legends, that will bring most of the main cast back together. But the series isn’t a direct sequel. “When the cast of Sons of Anarchy reunites at a fan convention after more than a decade, the line between life and art blurs as the fractured brotherhood finds itself up against a real-world threat more dangerous than anything they ever faced in their show,” the logline for the show states. It’s an odd premise for a show not known for breaking the fourth wall.
Notably not included in the production team is Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter. Instead, the show was developed by SoA star Charlie Hunnam with Jonathan Groff (no, not that one — this one was the executive producer on Black-ish). That doesn’t mean that Sutter doesn’t bless this production, however. At the very least, his wife, Katey Sagal, who played Gemma on the original series, is returning. She and Hunnam are both joined by Ron Perlman (Clay), Maggie Siff (Tara), Mark Boone Junior (Bobby), Tommy Flanagan (Chibs), Kim Coates (Tig), and Theo Rossi (Juice). So it’s got the literal Juice, but let’s see if Legends can stack up.
