LPG Cylinder e-KYC: Oil marketing companies are continuously sending messages to the beneficiaries of PM Ujjwala Yojana, alerting them to complete the e-KYC process by August 16, failing which there could be big trouble.
If you use an LPG cylinder, you may have received a message on your registered mobile number alerting you to complete your e-KYC (LPG e-KYC Alert). This SMS, sent by oil marketing companies, urges LPG users to complete this important task as soon as possible. The deadline for this is August 16th. Missing this deadline could create difficulties in obtaining an LPG cylinder, and beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana may also face disruptions in receiving government subsidies.
August began with a sigh of relief for LPG consumers. Oil marketing companies provided significant relief by significantly reducing the price of 19-kilogram commercial LPG cylinders, effective August 1, 2026. However, the price of domestic gas cylinders (14 kg LPG cylinders) remained unchanged. Additionally, companies have issued an alert to ensure prompt e-KYC verification for uninterrupted cylinder supply.
If we look at the prices of domestic LPG cylinders, the price of the cylinder in Delhi (Delhi LPG Cylinder Price) is Rs 942, the price in Kolkata (Kolkata LPG Cylinder Price) is Rs 968, the price in Mumbai is Rs 941.50 and in Chennai it is Rs 957.50.
Warning through SMS alert
Domestic LPG consumers have to complete this Aadhaar based e-KYC verification process by August 16 and for this, public sector oil companies have also started sending them SMS alerts, in which it has been warned that those who do not complete this work by the deadline may face problems in purchasing LP cylinders at the notified domestic rate. Beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) are also required to complete LPG e-KYC by the stipulated last date.
Launched in 2016, the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana has over 100 million beneficiaries nationwide, providing a Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) of ₹300 per year for four LPG cylinder refills. Previously, nine subsidized cylinders were available, but the rules for this were changed in June.
You can complete the work from home.
Oil marketing companies are also continuously sending alerts via SMS. These read, “Dear customer, to get LPG cylinders at domestic rates, you must complete e-KYC. Despite repeated reminders, you have not yet completed e-KYC.”
IOCL has sent an alert for this important task and shared the process for completing it from home. The message further states that you can complete the e-KYC process from home via the Indian Oil One App, by visiting your distributor, or through a delivery person. It clearly states, “If you fail to complete this process by August 16, 2026, you will no longer be eligible to receive cylinders at domestic rates until this is completed. Please complete your e-KYC as soon as possible.”
