Agent-based workflows: Bionic is more than a chat interface; it operates as a full-featured AI agent capable of editing files, summarizing documents, debugging code, and managing workflows. It handles two primary project types—Work Projects for documents, slide decks, spreadsheets, and research work; and Code Projects for programming tasks such as inspecting and editing codebases with inline diffs and code search. Every change can be checkpointed with rollbacks. Bionic also includes native web search to bring external context into workflows.
Flexible model execution: Users can run open models locally, via a remote machine through LM Link, or use larger frontier models through Secure Cloud. Local models run entirely on-device; cloud requests default to Zero Data Retention and are not used for training.
Voice input / offline transcription: The tool includes a voice keyboard to dictate prompts or edits using a local transcription model (Voxtral by Mistral AI). The feature works across system applications, while ensuring privacy and minimizing latency.
Document-centric productivity tools: Bionic offers support for various file types including PDFs, slide decks, and spreadsheets. Users can summarize, organize, edit, or generate documents, all within a sandboxed environment. The tool includes in-app previews of supported file formats to streamline workflow.

Privacy and cost control: By default, cloud executions run under Zero Data Retention; local execution ensures data never leaves the device. Users choose execution mode according to task scale, cost, and hardware capability.
