Apple is preparing to launch its biggest Siri upgrade with iOS 27 later next month (most likely first or second week of September 2026). Sam Altman’s latest GPT-Live voice mode allows users to interrupt the AI while it is speaking which makes interactions feel more natural and closer to a real conversation.
Siri, on the other hand, still works in a slower, turn-by-turn format and cannot be interrupted while responding.
One of Siri AI’s biggest strengths is its ability to understand what’s happening on your iPhone screen and the deep integration with Apple’s ecosystem gives Siri an advantage that most third-party AI apps currently lack.
