Thomas Frank and Toby Alderweireld have joined the BBC Match of the Day lineup ahead of the new season.

Robbie Keane and Ashley Young will also join the show, with BBC Sport launching four new YouTube formats for the new men's football season.

The BBC Football YouTube channel will host the four new shows – FANS², The Truth About Football, Golden Goal and Football Hub.

Frank has appeared previously on the BBC’s flagship football highlights show, but former Tottenham and Belgium defender Alderweireld is a new addition to the lineup.

Match of the Day underwent seismic change last season as anchor Gary Lineker left the show after 25 years and was replaced by Kelly Cates, Mark Chapman and Gabby Logan, who shared hosting duties across the season.

The future of the show, which has been running since 1964, has been thrown into doubt following the explosion of podcast content over the last few years.

Lineker’s The Rest is Football was brought by Netflix ahead of the World Cup, and has agreed a deal with the streaming service for the next two Premier League seasons.

Gary Neville and Disney+ have also agreed a deal for The Overlap’s podcast content, while Wayne Rooney, who was one of the stars of the BBC’s World Cup content, has started a new podcast called Stick to United with YouTuber Mark Goldbridge.

For now, the core pundit panel that were on Match of the Day last season are set to continue their duties, with Alan Shearer, Micah Richards and Danny Murphy all expected to remain on BBC screens.
