The 62-year-old transplanted Newfoundlander has been out of sports since leading Atletico Ottawa to the CPL playoff title last November.

Not only would Jeff Hunt return to his former role as president of the Ottawa Redblacks, he’s also willing to bet on himself.

Hunt, who has led Ottawa teams to championships in the Canadian Football League, the Canadian Hockey League, the Ontario Hockey League and the Canadian Premier League, is currently the owner of Ottawa Valley Meats.

The 62-year-old transplanted Newfoundlander has been out of sports since leading Atletico Ottawa to the CPL playoff title last November.

Now, he’s looking for another challenge.

“I loved my job with the Redblacks,” Hunt, the team’s president from its CFL inception until a disagreement over the club’s direction after its disappointing 2018 season, said when contacted at his TD Place condo on Tuesday. “We had a lot of fun. We had a lot of success. It was one of the best times of my life.

“I still watch all their games and I hate seeing them struggle again.
