Scarcity Is Still Ferrari’s Favorite Option
Not long ago, Ferrari was best known as a prestigious brand offering some of the world’s most exotic high-performance cars, such as the 812 Superfast and 488. Today, the Italian automaker has expanded into SUV territory with the Purosangue and into all-electric vehicles with the polarizing Luce. It is still early to tell how this broader approach will work in the long term, but according to its Q2 2026 report, the order book covers all of 2027.
That suggests demand remains healthy, although Ferrari’s shipments declined 3.7% year over year to 3,366 units in the second quarter. Operating profit (EBIT), however, grew 9.5% to €605 million, or about $697 million at current exchange rates, with Ferrari citing a favorable product mix and stronger-than-expected demand for personalization.

Home Turf Still Delivers
The EMEA region (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa) accounted for 55% of shipments in Q2 2026. The Americas represented 23%, followed by the rest of Asia-Pacific at 16% and Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan at 6%.
Ferrari noted that the models being phased out include the 296 GTS, Roma Spider, SF90 XX, and SF90 XX Spider. Meanwhile, the models being phased in are the Amalfi, 296 Speciale, 296 Speciale A, and 849 Testarossa, the plug-in-hybrid successor to the SF90 Stradale. The automaker did not say which models account for the orders covering 2027, but these lists may offer some insight.
The Prancing Horse brand’s first EV, the Luce, has drawn criticism since its unveiling in May 2026, mostly over its design, yet it reportedly met its 2026 sales target within two months.

The Waiting Game Begins
With Ferrari’s existing order book covering all of 2027, newly placed orders may not be delivered until 2028. Customers can use the wait to check out some of the automaker’s latest entries. The company plans to unveil five new models this year; so far, it has revealed the Amalfi Spider, Luce, and 12Cilindri Manuale, which features a 6-speed manual-by-wire system and a gated shifter.
While expanding its electrified offerings, Ferrari wants to be intentional with its powertrain strategy. By 2030, its lineup is expected to consist of 40% combustion models, 40% hybrids, and 20% EVs. That was revised from an earlier strategy that reversed the shares of combustion and electric models. It reflects a broader market shift that also led Lamborghini to replace its planned all-electric fourth model with a plug-in-hybrid grand tourer.
