If you’ve seen celebrity stylist Law Roach as a reality-TV judge on shows like Legendary, RuPaul’s Drag Race, and Project Runway, then you know he is not one to take the high road. But he’s turned over a new leaf. While on Ziwe’s You’d Be an Iconic Guest, he was asked about being petty, pointing to the fact that he won’t dress Zendaya in brands that rejected her when she was up and coming. “I think that there is an importance of being petty, but I’ve outgrown my pettiness,” Roach said in response. “I think that holding grudges makes you ugly. So in my quest to become more beautiful, I’ve released some of the grudges that I held.” He then even added that “I’m actually wearing Saint Laurent right now.”

The brands Roach avoided dressing Zendaya in for the red carpet are Saint Laurent, Dior, Valentino, Chanel, and Gucci. She has since dressed in Valentino, because she got a contract with the house, but the early days still affect Roach’s relationship with the other four. “I would write the big five,” he explained on The Cutting Room Floor podcast. “And they would all say no … ‘Try again next year, she’s too green, she’s not on our calendar.’ I still have all the receipts.” Maybe now that the pettiness is over that will change? Maybe not. When Ziwe followed up with Roach, asking if he’d be willing to put Z in those brands on the carpet now, he had a one-word response: “No.”
