BJP president Nitin Nabin has announced a new team of national office-bearers, bringing back several senior leaders while retaining key RSS-linked organisational functionaries.
BJP president Nitin Nabin on Monday announced his new team of national office-bearers, bringing several prominent leaders back into the party’s central organisational structure while retaining its key RSS-linked organisational leadership.
Former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia and former BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav have been appointed national vice-presidents, while former Union minister Smriti Irani returns to a key organisational role as a national general secretary. Baijyant Jay Panda from Odisha has been appointed vice president along with D. Purandeshwari, Manpreet Singh Badal among others.
The appointments also retain the party’s core organisational leadership, with B.L. Santosh continuing as national general secretary (organisation) and Shivprakash and Saudan Singh as national joint general secretaries (organisation).
The retention of the three RSS functionaries provides continuity in the BJP’s organisational structure even as Nabin reshapes the political leadership around him.
Piyush Goyal has come back as national treasurer in place of Rajesh Agarwal, with Rajesh Mangal appointed joint treasurer. The new team includes eight national general secretaries and 16 national secretaries.
The return of Ram Madhav, who had earlier served as the BJP’s national general secretary and played a key role in the party’s organisational expansion, is among the most notable changes. Raje’s elevation also gives the former Rajasthan chief minister a renewed role in the BJP’s national leadership.
Irani’s appointment as general secretary marks her return to the party’s organisational hierarchy after her defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha election. She had previously served as a national secretary before becoming a Union minister.
The new general secretary team comprises Vinod Tawde, Sunil Bansal, Biplab Kumar Deb, Smriti Irani, Satish Poonia, Gajendra Patel, Harish Dwivedi and Sanjay Bhatia.
The reshuffle also brings changes to the BJP’s wider organisational structure. Vishnu Datt Sharma has been appointed All Cells Coordinator, with Rituraj Sinha and Vishnu Vardhan Reddy as joint coordinators. Amit Malviya, who headed the BJP’s IT Cell, does not figure in the new list of national office-bearers, marking his exit from the party’s announced national organisational team.
However, the BJP’s press release does not explicitly designate Sharma as the new head of the IT Cell; it only gives him charge as All Cells Coordinator.
Dr Hemang Joshi, BJP MP from Vadodara, has been appointed president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the party’s youth wing. Other morcha appointments include Roop Kumari Choudhary as Mahila Morcha president, Amarpal Maurya as OBC Morcha president and Bansilal Gurjar as Kisan Morcha president.
The BJP has retained Tarun Chugh as Central Office in-charge and appointed Mahendra Pandey as Central Office Secretary. Sambit Patra has been named North-East coordinator.
