Ice Pond: An Ice Fishing Adventure is bringing a cozy twist to the fishing genre, with indie developer Snails Arcade preparing to launch the winter-themed adventure on Steam in November 2026.
Developed by a tiny two-person team from Québec, Ice Pond combines relaxing ice fishing with strategic fish battles, light RPG mechanics, and management elements. The game takes players to a whimsical snowy world filled with friendly creatures, fictional fish, and several fishing locations to explore.
Fishing is more than simply casting a line. Players will need to choose the right bait, understand each fish’s preferred depth and habitat, and carefully manage their actions during fights. Making the wrong move could cause the line to snap, turning even a seemingly simple catch into a tense battle.
Every successful catch also rewards XP, allowing players to improve their strength, technique, and endurance. As they progress, they can unlock new locations, discover different fish species, purchase better equipment, and take part in competitions and challenges.
The game also introduces a management side, with players balancing their time and energy between fishing, training, work, and competitions. Odd jobs can provide extra money on quieter days, which you can then spend on rods, bait, power-ups, maps, and other useful items.
Ice Pond is expected to offer more than 15 hours of gameplay and will support English and French, along with full controller support. With its cute art style and relaxed approach to fishing, Ice Pond could be a charming choice for players looking for something cozy this winter.
