AMAR Dedic is set to become Matthias Jaissle's first signing at Newcastle United, a major boost for the Magpies a week out from the start of the Premier League season.
Newcastle were putting the finishing touches to a £30m agreement with Benfica today and Dedic is expected on Tyneside on Sunday to undergo his medical and complete his move.
It's welcome good news for Newcastle, who desperately need to strengthen their squad ahead of the end of the summer transfer window.
Bolstering at full-back has been a top priority this summer and in Dedic Newcastle are signing someone who Jaissle knows well, having previously coached the 23-year-old at RB Salzburg.

Jaissle will get his last look at Newcastle on Sunday before the real stuff gets underway when his side take on Strasbourg at St James' Park.
The Magpies conceded early and late to lose 2-1 to Leverkusen on Saturday, with confirmation coming after the game that Dan Burn has been appointed as new club captain. Joelinton will be vice-captain.
