Reece Walsh is facing a devastating end to his season, with the Broncos star suffering a long-term ankle injury.

In the 17th minute of his side’s match against the New Zealand Warriors, Walsh fell victim to a Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad hip-drop tackle as he attempt to offload the ball.
Immediately showing signs of discomfort, the fullback initially tried to continue playing but was assisted from the field two minutes later after being unable to continue.
Following the initial incident, Fox League’s Kevin Walters revealed Walsh had suffered a high ankle sprain and would undergo immediate scans.
The 2025 Clive Churchill Medallist was later spotted in a moon boot and on crutches, raising further concerns over the severity of the injur
“It looks like there’s an injury to Walsh here. Trouble brewing,” Fox League analyst Cooper Cronk said.
“Walsh getting that leg worked on here,” commentator Dan Ginnane added on Fox League.
The Broncos will now sweat on the results of Walsh’s scans with the severity of the injury set to determine whether he can return this season.
It has also potentially put his World Cup hopes in serious doubt, with the tournament to begin in October.
