Charles Spencer is currently known as the custodian for Althorp, his and Princess Diana's childhood home. However, at the start of his career, he was a broadcaster, working for the American network NBC.
Marking the 40th anniversary of the start of his broadcasting career, Charles shared a photo right from the beginning. Although he was mostly hidden in the photo, the 62-year-old could be seen in the back of the photo thanks to his vibrant red hair.
Charles looked almost identical to his nephew, Prince Harry, thanks to his brightly coloured hair, and he appeared to be the double of his young relative.
Sharing the story behind the photo, he shared: "The start of my broadcasting career – exactly 40 years ago this summer, when I took a month's work at @nbcnews on @todayshow. I was – to my huge relief and delight – offered a full time role by Steve Friedman, the executive producer, at a party to mark the end of that month of work in the UK.
"'Do you mean that?', I asked. 'Sure', he replied. I quickly found a napkin, and wrote out a very basic contract on it and asked him to sign it. 6 weeks later I turned up in his office in Rockefeller Plaza, NYC, and produced the napkin. He laughed, honoured it, and we went from there."
Charles concluded: "Over the next decade, I worked with most of this very fine group of journalists, around the world. A lot of hard work and hard laughter. Quite a few of the people in this picture remain friends today. One sadly died on Sunday, which made me think about this era, and these colleagues. (I'm in the back row, to the right – still red-headed.)"
Fans were quick to comment on the sweet image, as one enthused: "And a mighty fine reporter you were on Nightly News and Today," while a second posted: "Those were the (younger) days! Hard work and fun times!!"
This isn't the first time that the Earl has been compared to his royal nephew, as fans were quick to notice the similarities when Charles shared a throwback photo from his time in the film, Another Country.
"You look like a young Harry and very dashing," one person commented. A second added: "You were both very dashing there." Meanwhile, a third wrote: "Out of all the Windsors and Spencers, I think Harry most resembles you."
It's not just Harry that the Earl is compared to, as many royal watchers also believe that he looks like Prince George, the eldest son of Prince William.
Commenting on the family resemblance alongside an image of the Earl in his youth, one follower noted: "Prince George is the spitting image of your father," while a second penned: "I see his father in William also."
A third wrote: "I see you and Diana in your father's face! Wonderful photos, thanks, for sharing," and a fourth chimed in: "Such lovely photos of your father & grandfather! You resemble your father so much!"
