Srinagar, August 14: The Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Srinagar, has convicted Ghulam Nabi Dar, the then Executive Engineer, Rural Engineering Wing (REW), Ganderbal, and Mohd. Shameem Parra, the then Orderly, in a trap case registered by the Vigilance Organisation Kashmir (VOK), now Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Srinagar.

The case, registered as FIR No. 02/2014 at Police Station VOK (now ACB) Srinagar, pertained to the demand and acceptance of illegal gratification during the processing of a contractor’s bill.

After hearing the matter, the court held both accused guilty under the relevant provisions of the J&K Prevention of Corruption Act and the Ranbir Penal Code. The convicts were found guilty of criminal misconduct under Section 5(2) read with Section 5(1)(d) of the J&K Prevention of Corruption Act, accepting illegal gratification under Section 4-A of the Act, and criminal conspiracy under Section 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code.

The court sentenced each convict to four years’ simple imprisonment and a fine of ₹10,000 on each count. The sentences will run concurrently.

The case was represented before the court by Special Public Prosecutor Wajahat Jamil, CPO, on behalf of the Anti-Corruption Bureau.

The judgment was pronounced on August 14, 2026, by Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Srinagar,  Tasleem Arief.
