A scooter that can hold itself on a slope and guide you to your destination sounds like something from a much more expensive machine. Ampere has now added these features to the Magnus G Max, giving its electric scooter a big technology update without changing its basic riding package.
The Magnus G Max now uses Ampere’s NxG.io software platform. It brings more than 30 connected features and a new 5 inch PMVA digital display.
The Ampere Connect app adds more information for owners. Riders can check live location, charging status, charging history and battery health. It also supports geofencing, theft and tow alerts, remote vehicle checks and service booking.
The hardware is familiar. The Magnus G Max uses a 3kWh LFP battery with a 2.4kW peak hub motor. Ampere claims an IDC range of 142km and a top speed of 65kph. The company also says the scooter can deliver more than 100km in real world use.
The battery has a claimed life of 2,00,000km and gets a five year or 75,000km warranty. This is one area that should matter to buyers planning to keep the scooter for several years.
The scooter gets 12 inch wheels, telescopic front suspension and dual rear shock absorbers. The setup is meant for regular city roads as well as rougher stretches. The motor is also claimed to produce 130Nm of wheel torque.
Ampere has added a new Cinnamon Copper colour to the range. Monsoon Blue and Matcha Green continue as the other choices, with dual tone finishes available.
There is also real time vehicle information through the app, which can make regular ownership easier. Charging progress can be checked from the phone, and service related details can be managed without visiting a workshop first. These small functions may prove useful for riders who use the scooter every day for work, shopping and short trips around town.
The updated Magnus G Max costs Rs 1,09,999. At this price, buyers are paying more attention to connected functions as well as the basic electric scooter package.
