Apogee Entertainment and Trigger Happy Interactive have announced Total Chaos VR Edition, bringing the acclaimed survival horror game into virtual reality. The new edition was revealed during the VR Games Showcase and will launch soon on Steam VR.
Rather than simply putting the original game into a VR headset, the developers have redesigned parts of the experience specifically for virtual reality. The development team has adjusted the item locations and resource distribution, and also reworked certain sections and rebalanced them to better fit VR interactions and pacing.
The core experience remains intact, with players returning to the unsettling Fort Oasis and facing the game’s brutal combat, oppressive atmosphere, and psychological horror. However, these changes should give even returning players a different experience as they explore the terrifying setting from a much more immersive perspective.
There is also some good news for existing players. Anyone who already owns Total Chaos on Steam will receive the VR Edition at no additional cost when it launches. The standard PC version is currently available for $24.99.
A standalone version of Total Chaos VR is also in development for Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S through the Meta Horizon Store. Players can wishlist the game now, although its release date, price, and additional details are still under wraps.
Total Chaos is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. For horror fans, stepping into Fort Oasis in VR could make an already unsettling adventure feel even more intense.
