ReStory, the chill Y2K-era electronics repair simulator from tinyBuild and Mandragora, has already reached an impressive milestone just one week after launch. The relaxing shop management game has sold more than 300,000 copies, showing that there is still plenty of love for nostalgic tech and laid-back simulation games.
The game has also received an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam and attracted more than 19,000 concurrent players at its peak over the weekend. With its strong launch, the developers are now working on additional story content and more retro devices for future updates.
Developed by the team behind I Am Future, ReStory takes players to mid-2000s Tokyo, where they run a small electronics repair shop. Players can dismantle, clean, repair, and restore a variety of nostalgic devices, including handheld consoles, phones, cameras, music players, and home appliances. The game also features officially licensed Atari systems.
However, repairing electronics is only part of the experience. Players will also interact with customers and influence their personal stories through their choices. From helping a student confess their feelings to uncovering secrets hidden inside a former gangster’s phone, each repair can lead to unexpected moments.
