Former Olympic skier and BBC presenter Chemmy Alcott has suffered a collapsed lung after jumping into a lake on holiday.
The 44-year-old Ski Sunday presenter was in Lake Annecy in the French Alps when she jumped off a five-metre platform into the water.
However, after landing awkwardly, Chemmy revealed that she needed a chest drain after the heavy landing.
Sharing a video of her botched jump alongside photos from a hospital bed, Chemmy told her followers: ‘Most people badly time a front flip off a five metre platform and get winded.
‘I apparently don’t do things by halves – collapsed lung, chest drain and a very expensive lesson in rotation.’
Captioning the post, she added: ‘Well… that escalated quickly.
‘Turns out 5 metres is quite a long way to discover you’ve got the rotation wrong.
‘One badly timed front flip. One very hard landing. One collapsed lung. One chest drain.
‘And a few more hospital overnights than were on the holiday itinerary…’
Chemmy added: ‘I absolutely LOVED Annecy… but I’m not entirely sure it loved me back.’
The former Team GB skier explained that she initially went to jump again after her failed attempt, but found that she couldn’t breathe properly and went to get it checked out.
Lying in a hospital bed, Chemmy shared graphic images of a chest drain inserted into her right side as she recovered from the accident.
Taking to the comments section, fans were quick to send their best wishes to her.
The 44-year-old raced in all five disciplines, from downhill to super G, giant slalom, slalom and combined.
