Environment Canada has issued a “Yellow” storm alert for the Capital Region bringing the possibility of severe thunderstorms with strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.

The heads up covers most of metropolitan Ottawa, from Kanata to Orléans and Ottawa North.
“Wind gusts could reach 90 km/h (with) quarter-sized hail (and) heavy rain,” the agency said in a social-media post shortly before 1:30 p.m.
The alert is expected to continue into Wednesday evening.
