Shillong, Aug 11: Four Khasi candidates from Meghalaya have successfully completed the Level 1 Swimming Coach Certification Course conducted outside the state, according to the Swim Well Aquatic Club (SWAC).
The achievement marks the second time that four Khasi candidates from the state have successfully completed the certification programme, further strengthening the pool of trained swimming coaches in Meghalaya.
In a public notice, SWAC said the certification was aimed at equipping aspiring swimming coaches with the necessary knowledge, technical skills and safety practices required to provide quality instruction.
The club also stressed the importance of learning swimming under the guidance of qualified and certified coaches, urging parents, students and members of the public to verify whether their swimming instructors possess proper training and recognised coaching certification.
SWAC further encouraged individuals aspiring to take up swimming coaching as a profession to obtain certification from recognised institutions offering professional swimming coach education. According to the club, properly trained coaches are better equipped to provide effective instruction while ensuring appropriate safety measures and minimising the risk of accidents during training.
The latest achievement is expected to contribute towards improving the standard of swimming coaching in Meghalaya, particularly at the grassroots level, where access to trained instructors remains crucial for developing young swimmers.
SWAC said it remains committed to promoting safe, professional and high-quality swimming education in Meghalaya, while encouraging greater awareness about the importance of certified coaching in the sport.
