Police are looking to trace a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run in the Scottish Borders that left a cyclist with “life-threatening” injuries.
The incident happened on the A72 between Skirling and Biggar at about 3.30pm on Tuesday.
A male cyclist, 36, had been travelling on the A72 towards the A702 at Biggar when he was struck by a van that left the scene before the police got there.
He was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment to what are described as life-threatening injuries.
Police said inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances, and to trace the vehicle involved.

Detective Constable Josh Ellwood said: “Our inquiries are ongoing and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us.
“I would also appeal to anyone who has seen a Mercedes Sprinter-type van in the area around the time to contact us.
“I would also request anyone with dashcam or private CCTV footage that could assist to get in touch.”
