GUISELEY suffered a narrow defeat against Warrington Town at Nethermoor on Saturday.
Despite an early goal from Adam Lund, the Lions were downed 2-1 by a resilient Warrington side.
The match started brightly for Guiseley as they took the lead within four minutes.
A misjudged bicycle kick from Ollie Brown turned into an assist, landing kindly for Lund, who slotted a low drive from 25 yards into the left corner.
Jack Goodman was prominent for the visitors when they broke down the right wing and Reece Daly was also a threat.
Cam Wilson made a promising forward run at 13 minutes but failed to find Amir Berchil with his through ball.
However, the drinks break proved a turning point for Warrington.
Manager Paul Carden was seen in animated discussion with his team and they returned to the field with renewed vigour.
Ewan Bange's powerful shot was narrowly deflected wide and Reece Daly's attempt was blocked for a corner.
The resulting set piece was headed home by an unmarked Bange on the edge of the six-yard box in the 42nd minute, bringing the scoreline level.
Warrington came out of the blocks faster in the second half and won a free kick 10 yards into the Guiseley half.
Daly lofted the ball towards the far post, where Alex McNally sent a looping header across goal, dropping it into the net to give Warrington the lead.
Lebrun Mbeka made a crucial block to deny Daly's close-range volley and keep Guiseley in the game.
Mbeka also came close to scoring with an acrobatic overhead kick from Aaron Martin's knockdown.
Ian Richards made several substitutions over the last 30 minutes, bringing on Jordan Thewlis, Jay Rollins, Derren Boyle and new signing, Jack Tinker.
