Brazilian footballer Jacy Maranhão was rushing to meet a sea of his supporters, ball in hand and jumping with joy, before he fell down a dark tunnel.
The Corbita defender had just put his club 2-0 up against Chapecoense in the first half of a game in the Brazilian Serie A.
But just as he found his footing again and dusted himself off from the fall, the referee halted the game.
On review, the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) found the 29-year-old's goal was offside.
Jacy managed to continue playing into the first few minutes of the second half before being substituted with an injury.
The incident was not the first time a footballer had fallen foul of the tunnel at the Estádio Major Antônio Couto Pereira.
Almost a decade earlier, Cameroonian forward Diederrick Joel Tagueu-Tadjo ran to the same end of the pitch, jumping over the same advertising hoardings before falling into the now-infamous Corbita tunnel.
But unlike Jacy, his goal was not ruled out, and he managed to finish the game against São Paulo.
But according to Brazilian journalist Leonardo Mendes Jr, there was a striking similarity to the two incidents.
"There's one detail that makes it even more unbelievable," he posted on social media.
