Why are London flights being suspended?
According to IndiGo, the past few months have seen several challenges, including:
Airspace restrictions in various countries
Rising fuel prices
Foreign exchange pressures
Continuously rising operating costs
The company states that due to these factors, the cost and operation of long-haul flights have become significantly more expensive and difficult than before, leading to a review of the wide-body aircraft program.
The agreement with Norse Atlantic will also end.
IndiGo leased six Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft from Norse Atlantic Airways in 2025 to gain experience in long-haul flights. IndiGo says that through this partnership, it launched services on several routes in Europe and the UK. However, this wet-lease agreement will now be terminated by the end of October.
