Michael Svoboda and his young family hope to turn Brighton into their home from home with a baby on the way.
But a trip back to his real home was a nice way to start life with Albion.
Having returned from international duty with Austria, he was flown back to his native country by his new club.
The centre-back signed from Venezia was very much on familiar ground – and not just because his club used the same training centre as his national team.
Svoboda's first non-league club were Schwechat, which is where Vienna airport is located.
If you catch the U2 train from the city centre to the Austrian FA training base which Albion enjoyed using, you go right past the national stadium.
Then you stop in the suburb of Stadlau, where he played third-tier football for two years.
It feels more like non-league and Stadlau are well known for having a public outdoor swimming pool right next to their pitch.
He told The Argus: "I grew up here in the city, in the tenth district, which is 20 minutes from here.
"I was playing there in a local team for approximately ten years.
"I grew up in the city, I enjoyed the city a lot. Obviously, it's nice to be back because you can see some family and friends as well, but also you can enjoy the city.
"If you know the city well, you know the places where to go."
Svoboda was tempted by ski-ing as a youngster but added: "I wasn't good enough. It was always going to be football.
"As a young lad, of course you dream about it (the Premier League), but I had other goals.
"My goal was always to get into the (Austrian) Bundesliga and then, of course, try as far as possible.
