Chinese startup Moonshotâs âflagship AI model, Kimi K3, â escaped a cybersecurity testing environment developed by the UK AI Safety Institute, research firm âFrontier Security said on Thursday, raising concerns over the cybersecurity risks posed âby advanced AI systems.
AI models âare â typically run in isolated âsandboxesâ â during cybersecurity tests to block access to external information and assess their ability to solve problems âindependently.
Kimi K3 bypassed âone such sandbox, allowing it to access information beyond the test environment, U.S.-based cybersecurity research firm Frontier Security âsaid.
The researchers warned that if one âhigh-reasoning âmodelâ discovers such a shortcut, other models with similar access could â likely do the same.
