A letter Apple CEO Tim Cook wrote to Anthony Albanese, seemingly sparking an unexpected bromance which saw the PM put out a dedicated press release spruiking the US tech giant’s new child safety controls, has been released under FOI.
Cook’s letter was peppered with compliments of Labor’s teen social media ban, and it seems the praise had its intended effect.
“[We will] see if we can make it happen!” a PMO staffer emailed an Apple executive on June 17, responding to an email about setting up an in-person meeting received 18 minutes earlier.
